The 1903 America’s Cup defender, Reliance, was built by Herreshoff Mfg. Designed by Nathaniel Herreshoff, the longest cup boat ever built. She carried an enormous amount of sail (16,000 sq.ft.) and was one of the first racing yachts to use winches to speed sail handling.
