In 1940 everyone in the world was worried about being pulled into war. The economy was still in the doldrums. In general, manufacturers weren't making much of anything let alone taking risks with new designs. Not the case with Chirs Smith. In 1940, Chris-Craft introduced a new hull style called the "torpedo deck" or "barrel back". Fifty plus years later it is among the most highly coveted of the famed Chris-Craft's, and thanks to the model masters at Dumas, you can now own one in miniature. Faithful to the original, the Dumas model of the 19' Barrel Back has the same rounded hull style, and barrel type stern that enabled the boat to shatter the old 1940 speed barriers. In keeping with the Dumas tradition of Chris-Craft kits, the model features a double planked birch plywood and mahogany veneer hull, preformed ABS plastic seats, chrome fittings, and complete set of running hardware including bronze propeller. Color decals and cloth flag and burgee helps set off the model. So try your hand at the stylish 19' Chris-Craft Barrel Back.
